Bust three-quarters to the right, head slightly bowed; black hair with receding hairline, white zucchetto, cloak trimmed with white ermine fur. Background gray, darker on the left. Inscription on the reverse: Pius VII., A round pendant with a metallic gold-colored frame contains a painted portrait of a person shown from the shoulders up, wearing a red garment with white trim and a white head covering; the person has dark hair and a light skin tone and is positioned against a muted gray background, with visible brush texture and a few fine cracks in the painted surface.
