Half-length 3/4 to the right, full-face portrait of a man ruler in a foreign miniature, dated 1750. Augustus III Sas King of Poland; Elector of Saxony. He wears a low en catogan wig, velvet blue justokor braided with gold, a cuirass, a shirt with jabot and white lace cuffs, holds a baton in his hand, and wears the Order of the Golden Fleece and the sash of the Order of the White Eagle. Background: cloudy blue-gray–vermilion sky. Frame: narrow carved gilded bronze strip decorated with a floral twig in a narrow black plush passe-partout, in a wooden frame with gilded plaster neo-Rococo ornament topped with a bow. Miniature, height 7.5 cm, width 7.5 cm., A framed portrait of a person wearing a white powdered wig and formal clothing, set against a neutral background. The subject wears a blue outer garment with gold embroidered details and brown sleeves with ornate patterns, a white ruffled collar, and a red sash across the chest with a decorative medallion. The person holds a dark cane or staff in one hand. The portrait is surrounded by a narrow gold inner frame, a dark velvet-like mat, and an ornate gilded outer frame with decorative carved ribbon and floral motifs; a gilded bow ornament sits atop the frame. Visible colors include gold, blue, brown, white, red, black, gray, and muted skin tones.
