Portrait of an Unknown Man in a Navy Blue Tailcoat, Michael Johann Weixlbaum 1790–1824, portrait en trois-quarts of a man; Polish miniature, 1813. Bust three-quarter right; short black hair à la Tytus, sideburns; wearing a white Vatermorder shirt collar, white waistcoat and cravat, dark navy tailcoat with gold buttons. Background olive, brightened around the figure. Narrow bronze frame. Miniature, height 5.2 cm, width 5.1 cm. The image shows similarities to a miniature by the Viennese artist Johann Mathias Weixelbaum but differs in level of workmanship, hair color, linearism, simplification of composition, and lack of freedom of painting. Place of origin: Lviv., A small round pendant with a thin metallic gold frame contains a painted portrait of a man shown from the chest up; he has short dark hair and sideburns, a fair complexion with subtle reddish tones in the cheeks, and neutral facial features. He wears a high-collared white shirt and cravat beneath a dark navy or black double-breasted coat with a wide collar and small gold buttons. The painted background is a muted beige to olive gradient. The pendant hangs against a flat gray surface.
