Marie Amalie Elisabeth Karoline von Baden 1817–1888, Duchess of Hamilton, called Maria Amalia. Portrait woman, waist-length, torso almost in profile, head three-quarters to the left. Dark hair parted in the middle with angular lace at the sides. She wears a blue-gray dress with a bustle and a collar at the neckline; a dark red cloak trimmed with ermine is slipped over the shoulders. Background: a column at right, a gray-green landscape at left, and a gray-blue sky above. Miniature, gilded bronze frame, ca. 1840; height 15.5 cm, width 12.9 cm. Creators attributed: Peter, Emanuel 1799–1873; Stieler, Joseph Karl 1781–1858; Cittadini, Alessandro 1820–1877., A framed portrait of a young woman shown from the chest up, facing slightly to the viewer's left, with pale skin and brown hair styled in curled ringlets; she wears a strapless dress with a bluish-gray bodice and a deep red cloak edged with white fur that has dark spots; the background includes a muted blue-gray sky and a hint of a landscape with green and brown tones on the left and a vertical architectural element in gray-brown on the right; the frame is gold with a small hanging loop at the top.
