Portrait of a young woman in a crinoline – Seweryn née Potocka? 1795–1871 1st degree v. Izydorowa Sobanska 2nd degree v. Franciszkowa de Paula von Colloredo-Wallsee, Blaas, Karl von 1815–1894 painter. Young woman sitting in an armchair, visible below the knees, straight figure, slightly bent to the left, head 3/4 to the right, slightly tilted. Hair blonde, parted smoothly in the middle, wrapped back below the ears and held in semicircular braids on both sides. A transparent lace headdress decorated with blue buttons falls from the head. A white lace collar at the neck; a crinoline dress with round ribbon rosettes and pearl buttons. A velvet cape adorns the lapels of the wide sleeves with pleats sewn on from a different material. Hands casually crossed on the knees; thin bracelets with hanging topaz-colored stones on the wrists, and gauze cuffs peeking from the loose sleeves. Binding: a narrow triangular bronze strip with a sapphire velvet border; entire case made of dark blue leather. 1852, Vienna. Miniature; height 32.8 cm, width 23.7 cm., A framed monochrome portrait of a seated woman rendered on tan paper, showing a woman with dark hair styled in large side rolls and a sheer lace veil, wearing a dark dress with decorative buttons and a white lace collar, her hands folded in her lap and sleeves with white ruffled cuffs; the drawing uses shades of gray, black, white highlights, tan background, and the frame has a thin gold inner border set against a dark outer mat.
