Sophie Eleonore seated in a red-upholstered armchair in widow's robes — black dress, white collar, black bonnet; on her knees the future Prince Louis VII, standing on a red cushion: red bonnet with white trim, white chemise, red dress with blue-and-white collar, white apron. Beside them stands Augusta Magdalena in a blue-and-brown bonnet with red ribbons, white-and-blue lace collar with red bow, white blouse, yellow patterned skirt, and blue-and-white overdress with brown embroidery. At right, a table covered with red fabric. Background: crimson curtain, left white and olive wall, right olive column, similar floor. Frame: gilded wood. 1660, Germany. Miniature; height 23.0 cm, width 18.0 cm., A framed portrait shows an older seated woman dressed in a dark outfit with a wide white collar and a black head covering, holding a small child in a pale dress with a bonnet; another small child in a patterned blue dress stands at her side on a cushion. The background features a draped curtain in deep red tones with tassels and a darker area behind it, and a piece of red upholstery at the side. The visible colors include gold from the ornate frame, deep red, black, white, pale skin tones, blue, and muted beige.
