Aniela Czartoryska en Vestale née Radziwill 1781–1808, Lampi, Jan Chrzciciel 1773–1837 ; young painter; unknown painter?. The reference to the strict customs of Roman women worshippers of the home emphasized the virtues of a good and faithful wife. The Duchess is depicted in a profile bust with her head turned three-quarters to the left against a neutral navy-blue background. Her dark blond hair, styled in the antique fashion, is covered with a transparent white veil over her shoulders and back, and her bustier, so-called vestal gown, is also white. This is a commemorative portrait highlighting her charming figure; her statuesque facial features, as if carved in marble, convey an otherworldly, antique-like element of eternity. 1800; miniature; height 8.4 cm, width 6.9 cm., A small oval portrait of a woman set within an ornate rectangular frame; the frame is gold with intricate floral and decorative relief around its border and a circular hanging ring at the top, and the inner oval mat is also gold. The painted portrait shows a woman with fair skin and brown hair styled up with soft curls, wearing a sheer white veil or draped fabric over her shoulders; her expression is neutral and she is turned slightly in three-quarter view against a deep blue background. Visible colors include gold, gray, deep blue, brown, white, cream, and subtle pink tones in the woman's face.
