Portrait of Mikolaj Faustyn Radziwill 1688–1746, unknown Polish painter. Oval portrait surrounded by a laurel wreath inscribed within the painting's rectangle. Within the oval: half-length, left hand held to the side, torso turned straight, facing slightly to the right; a stout man in his prime with grey hair to the ears combed back. In enameled armor, beneath which a white shirt is visible at the neck, and a red coat lined with ermine fur, fastened on the left shoulder an oval clasp. Background: dark sky with the outline of clouds on the right; overall composition background gray, plain. The face is rectangular with a high forehead, wide dark eyebrows, large eyes, a straight nose, and a small, full-lipped mouth. The portrait rests on the back of a black eagle with spread wings and a princely mitre on its head; the Trumpets coat of arms on its chest; in its beak it holds the Jastrzebiec coat of arms Orzel/Palubinski family, and in its talons a white ribbon with a three-line Latin inscription. Date: 1733–1737. Medium: painting. Dimensions: height 109 cm, width 72 cm., A painted portrait of a man shown from the chest up, wearing a red draped cloak with a white fur trim and a dark metallic breastplate; he has light-colored hair and a neutral facial expression with a pale complexion and dark eyes. The composition is set within an oval wreath of brown laurel leaves against a dark background, and a dark bird motif with a shield is visible beneath the oval. The palette includes reds, browns, blacks, whites, grays, and flesh tones. The canvas shows an outer border with wooden stretcher edges and small square fastenings along the perimeter.
