Portrait of Nicholas I Radziwill 1366–1466?, legendary figure, unknown Polish painter. Oval portrait with a laurel wreath incorporated into the corner of the painting. Within the oval: bust, turned three-quarters to the right, a grey-bearded old man with short hair and a drooping mustache, wearing a black coat lined with lynx fur. Plain brown-olive background inside the oval. The oval rests on the back of a black eagle with spread wings, wearing a princely mitre and bearing the Trumpets coat of arms on its chest; in its talons the eagle holds a white ribbon with a Latin inscription. Background around the portrait dark gray, smooth. 1733–1737, oil painting, height 109.5 cm, width 73 cm., A painted portrait of an older man with a long gray beard and receding hairline, shown from the chest up inside an oval wreath. He wears a dark robe and a fur-trimmed cloak with brown and black spotted patterning. The wreath surrounding him is golden brown with leaf-like segments. Below the portrait is a black double-headed eagle with outstretched wings and a small shield on its chest, and a banner-like scroll beneath it. The background outside the oval is muted gray and the interior of the oval is a deep brown. Visible colors include brown, gray, black, gold, and muted flesh tones.
