Portrait of Nicholas IV Radziwill ca. 1496–1529/30, Bishop of Samogitia, unknown Polish painter. Oval portrait with a laurel wreath incorporated into the painting's rectangle. Within the oval: half-length, turned three-quarters to the left, a young clergyman in a finely gathered white robe alb?, with a lace stand-up collar and a red cloak with brown fur lining, wearing a round red hat with a wide fur rim. On the chest is a cross on a gold chain. Expressive, harmonious features, a hint of stubble above the mouth. Oval background: green-beige, smooth. The portrait rests on the back of a black eagle with spread wings, bearing a ducal mitre on its head, a crosier in its right paw, and the Traby coat of arms on its chest. In its beak it holds the Pólkozice Nasilowskie coat of arms, and in its left paw a white ribbon with a Latin inscription. Background of the composition: bluish-gray, smooth. Dated 1733–1737. Painting, height 110 cm, width 75 cm., A painted portrait of a person shown from the waist up inside an oval frame with a decorative border; the person has a pale complexion, dark hair partially covered by a dark hat, and a composed facial expression with dark eyes and reddish lips. They wear a high, ornate collar and a light-colored pleated garment beneath a dark fur-trimmed cloak and a reddish outer robe. A gold chain with a pendant hangs around their neck. Below the oval is a dark emblem featuring wing-like shapes and small heraldic shields in red and blue, and a scroll-like element beneath. The overall color palette includes dark brown, olive green, black, maroon, pale flesh tones, gold, red, blue, and cream.
