Portrait of Leon I Michal Radziwill 1722–1751, unknown Polish painter. Oval portrait surrounded by a painted laurel wreath inscribed in the rectangle of the painting. In an oval: a half-length portrait of a young man, his torso three-quarters turned to the right and his face three-quarters turned to the left, with his right arm extended to the side, wearing a small powdered wig with a pigtail, armored with a red cloak with ermine lining draped over his left shoulder. A white shirt is visible from under the armor, as are red ruffles at the neck and shoulder strap. The face is elongated with a large, slightly convex nose, a high forehead, and gray-green eyes. The background in the oval is gray-green, smooth, and lighter near the head on the right. The portrait rests on the back of a black eagle with outstretched wings, a ducal mitre on his head, and the Trumpets coat of arms on his chest. In its beak it holds the Bawola Glowa Siesicki coat of arms, and in its talons a white ribbon with a five-line Latin inscription. Background outside the oval: dark gray-green, smooth. Before 1778. Painting; height 109 cm, width 74 cm., A painted portrait of a person shown from the torso up, wearing a powdered white wig and metallic armor with decorative red trim and a draped fur-lined cloak in red and gray; the face has a neutral expression and pale skin tones. The portrait is set against a dark background and enclosed within a painted oval wreath in shades of brown and gold. A dark circular element with two small heraldic shields in muted red and blue appears below the figure. The canvas edges show worn and torn areas with exposed underlying material in beige and brown. Overall visible colors include dark brown, black, gray, metallic silver, white, red, muted blue, beige, and gold.
