Painting, 22.5 × 31.7 cm., A painted seascape showing a wide expanse of water in shades of grayish blue and bluish gray with brushy highlights in lighter gray and pale blue; near the horizon a darker band separates the sea from a cloudy sky that fills the upper part of the image in muted grays, soft blues, and a few pale brownish tones; low on the horizon there are small areas of warm orange and reddish-pink suggesting a glow amid the clouds, with surrounding cloud strokes in bluish gray and touches of white; the edges of the image show a narrow worn frame in brown and off-white.
