Portrait of Franciszek Dembinski ?-1776, the last starost of Wolbrom, unknown Polish painter. A young man, approximately thirty-something, bust, turned three-quarters to the left, looking straight ahead. His face is quite full, light pink with a slight flush, with a high forehead, long nose, and thin lips, the corners lifted in a grimace. He wears a gray powdered? wig with a bow at the nape and tubular curls at the temples, combed back above the forehead. Thin eyebrows, brown eyes. Dressed in a red velvet tailcoat with a narrow stand-up collar and a single row of fabric-covered buttons, unbuttoned; beneath it a matching vest, unbuttoned at one button, and a white shirt with a high-tied white scarf with lace edges. Background grayish-green, smooth, slightly lightened near the head. Stiffly painted with smoothly filled surfaces. Inscription on reverse in black paint: N= 12 | Dembinski ostatni Starost... olbro ca. 1762. Oil painting, 69.4 cm × 56 cm., An oval-framed oil portrait of a person with pale skin and powdered gray hair styled in tight curls at the sides, wearing a red coat with a white lace jabot; the face has subtle rosy cheeks and neutral expression, and the background inside the oval is dark while the surrounding mat and frame are shades of black and deep brown with thin gold edging.
