Depicts insurgents/peasant soldiers on horseback riding along a road in a landscape; Munich School style; related to the January Uprising 1863–1864., A landscape painting showing a sandy, light-brown terrain with patches of green shrubs and low vegetation under a pale blue-gray sky; several figures in muted-colored clothing and coats are on horseback and on foot, with horses in brown and white tones; one central figure on foot wears a long coat and a hat and holds a staff while facing mounted figures; the mounted figures wear darker coats and caps and carry long rifles; a few tracks and shadows are visible in the sand, and there is a narrow path leading into the distance flanked by scattered bushes in greens and brownish hues; the scene is bordered by a thin frame in a metallic brown-gold color.
