The sky is filled with expansive clouds and a pale blue tone, blending into distant hazy hills and cliffs. On the right a fortified stone structure with round towers and walls overlooks the scene, while smoke and dust rise near the center and left, partially obscuring the midground. Horsemen wear varied clothing and helmets in muted colors, and several tents or banners appear among the figures. The palette includes blues, grays, browns, tans, reds, and muted greens throughout the scene.
