Jewel box, pietra dura; made of blackened wood, partly ebony, cuboid with chamfered corners supported on four gilded bronze volute legs decorated with a mascaron at the base. The edge of the base and the edge of the lid have profiled ebony strips. Decorated on the side walls with six mosaic reserves and one plaque on the lid. Front and back panels show two fruits on a branch; side panels show three fruits on a branch and an insect at the bottom. Corners feature cast gilded bronze garlands topped with medusa masks and plastic fruits made of semi-precious stones 7 pieces each. Hinged, profiled lid decorated with a large plate with three fruits on branches tied with a sash, with an insect above; side walls with gilded bronze garlands with plastic fruits; corners with gilded bronze shells; front retains a keyhole. Dated to the early 18th century 18th century, likely Florence, Italy. Dimensions: height 34.5 cm, width 41.5 cm, depth 50.5 cm., A decorative box with a dark brown or black wooden body accented by gilded metal mounts and leaf-shaped ornaments, featuring inset panels with colorful stone or gem cabochons in shades of pink, purple, red, white, green, and orange set against deep blue and black backgrounds, clusters of bead-like elements in purple and coral tones arranged like small bunches, sculpted gold-colored floral and acanthus motifs at the corners and feet, and a stepped base and upper section with framed rectangular and oval panels showing carved green leaves and rounded stones.
