Jewel box, pietra dura technique. Jewel box made of blackened wood, partly ebony, cuboid with chamfered corners supported on four gilded bronze volute legs decorated with a mascaron at the base. The edge of the base and the edge of the lid have profiled ebony strips. Decorated on the side walls with six mosaic reserves and one plaque on the lid. On the front and back two panels depict two fruits on a branch; on the sides one panel each shows three fruits on a branch and an insect at the bottom. Corners bear cast gilded bronze garlands topped with medusa masks decorated with plastic fruits made of semi-precious stones 7 pieces each. The hinged, profiled lid is decorated with a large plate with three fruits on branches tied with a sash, above them an insect; side walls feature gilded bronze garlands with plastic fruits; corners have gilded bronze shells; the front has a preserved key hole. Height 34.5 cm, width 41.5 cm, depth 50.5 cm., A decorative box sits on a neutral background, featuring a dark wood body with glossy black and deep brown tones and multiple gilded metal mounts in bright gold. The lid and sides are adorned with inset panels showing polished stone or glass cabochons in colors such as pale pink, peach, purple, orange, white, green, and red set against dark and blue backgrounds; the top panel includes a blue framed area with rounded cabochons in similar colors. Gilded leafy garlands and ornamental scrollwork in gold wrap around the corners and edges, and clusters of rounded stones in pink, purple, orange, white, and green are arranged along the top and sides. The box rests on ornate gold feet with curled designs, and the overall palette includes black, dark brown, gold, blue, pink, purple, orange, green, white, and red.
