Jewel box, pietra dura technique. Made of blackened wood, partly ebony, cuboid with chamfered corners supported on four gilded bronze volute legs decorated with a mascaron at the base. The edge of the base and the edge of the lid have profiled ebony strips. Decorated on the side walls with six mosaic reserves and one plaque on the lid: front and back panels show two fruits on a branch; side panels show three fruits on a branch with an insect at the bottom. Corners have cast gilded bronze garlands topped with Medusa masks and plastic fruits made of semi-precious stones 7 pieces each. The hinged, profiled lid has a large plate with three fruits on branches tied with a sash and an insect above; side walls bear gilded bronze garlands with plastic fruits; corners feature gilded bronze shells; front has a preserved keyhole. Dated to the early 18th century, likely Florence, Italy. Chest; height 34.5 cm, width 41.5 cm, depth 50.5 cm., A decorative box with a dark wood finish and gold ornamental accents sits against a light gray background, showing a hexagonal shape with several gilded scroll feet and ornate gold leaf motifs at the corners; the top features a framed panel with a blue border and inset colorful rounded stones and floral-like arrangements, and a garland of various polished stones and beads in shades of pink, purple, white, orange, green, and brown drapes across the lid edges; the sides display framed panels with dark backgrounds and polished purple and green stones set into decorative borders, and additional gold leafy mounts and clusters of polished stones in colors including purple, pink, white, orange, and green decorate the vertical corners.
