Ring by Romain Doreau fl. 1848–1863, jeweler. Oval gold ring with a band that widens slightly and features diagonal notches. The bezel is divided by strips of black enamel into four fields, each set with two alternating turquoise stones and two half-pearls. Along the ring’s underside is a tube with an oculus containing nine visible portrait photographs from the 1850s. Materials: gold, enamel, turquoise, pearls, photographs. Style: mid-19th century French jewelry. Dimensions: height 1.2 cm; width 2 cm; depth 2.2 cm., A gold ring with an oval top set with a symmetrical arrangement of round stones and decorative details; the top shows a group of four raised round stones with two turquoise-blue stones opposite each other and two greyish-white stones opposite each other, surrounding a small central black decorative element with gold detailing; the gold surface around the stones has engraved patterns and small black accents, and the band has diagonal engraved lines; visible colors include gold, turquoise-blue, greyish-white, black, and a neutral grey background.
