Vase with a hemispherical bowl, bottom rim, and arched circular lid with a handle modeled as a half-peeled lemon with stem, leaf, two slices, and rolled-up peel. Rim of vase and lid with relief rocaille decorations, gilded. Two color miniatures on the lid park scenes: 1 three men in 18th-century costume seated at a table with a vase and glasses; 2 three men at a table, one standing. Two color miniatures on the bowl park settings: 1 six people at a round table with glasses and pipes, one figure reclining in front of the table; 2 seven people at a table singing, smoking pipes, and talking. Possibly after engravings by W. Hogarth. 4th quarter of the 18th century, Berlin, Germany. Vase; height 27.5 cm, width 28 cm., A round white porcelain lid with a glossy finish sits against a gray background, decorated with painted scenes of people in period clothing in earthy tones and a few green trees, a painted yellow lemon with a curled peel and a green leaf as a three-dimensional knob, and a thin gold rim with delicate gold scrollwork around the edge.
