Hemispherical bowl with bottom rim and arched circular lid topped by a plastic half-peeled lemon with stem, leaf, two slices and rolled-up peel. Rim of vase and lid with gilded relief rocaille decoration. Two color miniatures each on bowl and lid after engravings by W. Hogarth?: on the lid—1 three men in 18th-century costume seated at a table with a vase and glasses, 2 three men at a table with a vase, one standing; on the bowl—1 six people seated at a round table with glasses and pipes, one figure reclining in front of the table, 2 seven people seated at a table singing, smoking pipes and conversing. Late 4th quarter of the 18th century late 18th century, Berlin, Germany. Vase; height 27.5 cm, width 28 cm., A rounded white porcelain lidded container with a glossy finish sits against a gray background; the lid has a sculpted yellow fruit with green leaves as a handle and delicate hand-painted scenes in muted greens, browns, and blues around the upper surface, while a band of gold trim encircles where lid and base meet and a few gold decorative flourishes appear along the rim; the lower body shows painted foliage in similar green and brown tones and the whole piece casts a soft reflection on the surface beneath.
