Kuan-type vase with cover, Bielino faience manufactory; 1779–1800. Maker: Karol Wolff fl. ca. 1800. Chinoiserie, Chinese/Far Eastern motifs, Warsaw faience, unknown provenance. Low kuan-type vase in the shape of a bulging baluster with a cylindrical neck and a low domed cover with an acorn-shaped handle. Against a chocolate background a gold-painted scene: a fragment of a garden with two chrysanthemum bushes, a peony bush, a palm tree, a rice fence, and between them the figure of a Chinese man with a bag and a walking stick. Around the neck is a thin simple plant twig; a painted flowered branch on the lid. Late 18th century, Poland. Vessel: height 19.5 cm, diameter 13.5 cm; lid: height 7.5 cm, diameter 10.5 cm., A lidded vase with a glossy dark surface decorated with floral and botanical designs in metallic gold tones; the vase has a rounded body that tapers toward the base and neck, a flared rim under the lid, and a domed lid with a small knob on top also decorated in gold; the visible decoration includes stylized flowers, leaves, and swirling accents arranged around the body and neck, with additional gold detailing near the base; background is a plain light gray, and the vase sits on a reflective surface showing a faint reflection; predominant colors are dark deep brown or black and gold, with gray in the background.
