Candlestick, Prószków Slaski faience factory 1763–1853. Candlestick in the shape of a polygonal baluster supported on a wide, round conical base with a wavy edge. Painted in color; on the foot are two landscape miniatures with architecture and oblique projections of twigs on the shaft. Circa 1770–1783. Manufacture: Prószków Slaski, Silesia Province of Silesia. Height 18.2 cm; width 13.0 cm., A scalloped ceramic dish with a central cylindrical holder sits against a pale gray background; the dish is primarily white with a thin brown rim and features painted small landscape scenes in green, brown, red, and blue. The visible decoration includes a group of building shapes with red roofs and brown walls set among green trees and grassy areas, mirrored near the top and bottom edges of the dish, along with a few slender green leaf-like strokes elsewhere; soft blue brushstrokes suggest sky around the central holder.
