Bottle-shaped vase with a domed lid. Imperial Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg 1744–1917; modeler: August Karlowicz Spiess 1817–1904. Embossed and colorfully painted decoration with four medallions set against a rococo latticework: a miniature portrait of Tsar Alexander II in ceremonial military uniform with epaulettes and a blue ribbon, the Tsar's monogram, and the Tsar's double-headed eagle. Gilded floral and plant elements. Condition: gap at the base, worn gilding. 1869, St. Petersburg, Russia. Porcelain vessel; height 49.5 cm, width 22 cm., A decorative porcelain vessel with a rounded body, tall neck, and domed lid, shown against a gray background; the object is primarily white with extensive gold ornamentation including raised gold accents, gilded borders, and gilded sculptural motifs; the body has a textured, quilted-like surface and a few circular framed panels bordered in gold; the neck and lid feature embossed floral and foliate decorations in white highlighted with gold, and the base has a patterned gold band and ornamental gold elements; overall colors visible are white, gold, and gray from the background.
