Pelike-shaped vase, copy of the Portland Vase by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Stoke-on-Trent pottery manufactory, 1790–1895. Black body with white cameo-style reliefs rendered from a black background depicting: 1 Atia mother of Emperor Augustus, Apollo, and Neptune; 2 Hecuba wife of Priam holding a torch, surrounded by Venus and Paris; and at the bottom, Paris lost in thought. 19th/20th century, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Height 26.6 cm; width 19 cm. Maker: Wedgwood, Josiah 1730–1795., A dark-colored ceramic jug with a wide flared neck and a single curved handle is shown against a neutral gray background; the body of the jug features raised white relief figures and decorative elements, including a seated draped male figure holding a staff, a standing partially draped male figure, a theatrical mask with a beard, architectural column-like shapes, floral motifs, and flowing drapery, with visible colors being black, white, and shades of gray.
