Milk jug, with lid, Augsburg city co-creator, Koenigliche Porzellain Fabrique, Meissen 1710-1763 author, Jug with a squat, spherical, slightly pear-shaped body with a collar around the edge, on three lion-paw legs, with an added triangular, gilded spout with leafy volutes at the base; S-shaped, ribbon-shaped handle, made of leafy, gilded rocaille sections. A slightly arched lid with a pinecone handle, in a gilded silver frame, mounted on a hinge at the rim of the jug. On the belly are two colorful miniatures: 1 a port scene with architecture on a high bank and staffage, 2 city walls over water, with a stone bridge, a boat, and staffage on the bridge. The miniatures are set in 4-leaf gilded lace frames, complemented by a brick-red and purple Regency ornament. Under the spout, beside it, and next to the handle are twigs and projections of Indianische Blumen. On the lid, two port scenes are inscribed in a brick-red circle; a trail of gilded lace surrounds the miniature. Gilded handles, spout and lid handle. ca. 1720–1735, Germany, Saxony, Meissen, vessel, A small ornate lidded porcelain container stands on a reflective surface against a gray background, showing a white body decorated with intricate orange and gold scrollwork and floral motifs in purple, red, green, and blue; the piece has gilded metal accents including a gold-colored finial on the lid and a decorative gold applique on the front, and it rests on three short white legs with subtle gold highlights.
