Pot-pourri vase with lid by Johann Georg Buchwald Cologne; 1769–1771. Porcelain pot-pourri vase with hemispherical body slightly closing at the top, almost flat shoulders, and a wide neck that slopes obliquely. Low stem widening into a round, wide foot. The neck, base of the belly, and foot are enclosed in a wreath of plastic shell ornament painted in purple. On the body are two landscapes with buildings against a background of trees. Hat-like cover with a brim enclosed in a shell ornament; on the top a plastic decoration of colorful flowers with a floral handle. Dated 1769–1771. Germany, Cologne. Vessel. Height 37 cm, width 26 cm., A white ceramic vase with a rounded body, narrow neck, and flared foot, featuring scalloped molded edges highlighted in purple and brown; the central body displays a painted rural scene with a small building and surrounding trees in greens, browns, and muted pinks, and a figure near the shoreline. The top rim is decorated with three-dimensional ceramic flowers and leaves in yellow, green, purple, and blue, and the lid area shows small circular openings and additional purple scalloped trim. The overall color palette includes white, purple, green, yellow, brown, and touches of pink and blue, set against a neutral gray background.
