Man with a Potato Masher, Reinicke, Peter 1715–1768 modeler?, Koenigliche Porzellain Fabrique, Meissen 1710–1763 manufacturer. On a flat circular pedestal with rocaille merging into a tree trunk stands a young man leaning on the trunk at waist level. In contrapposto, with his head turned to the right, he holds a short oval board with a handle—an instrument for stewing potatoes—resting on his right shoulder. Dressed in trousers with colorful thin stripes tied loosely at the waist with a belt, black shoes with a buckle, a short green jacket with box pleats, a pink waistcoat with gold braiding, and a soft cap similar to a nightcap. Ca. 1755, Saxony; Meissen. Figurine, height 13.5 cm., A small porcelain figure of a person standing on an ornate base, wearing a white headscarf with a thin colored band, a green jacket with yellow cuffs over a purple vest, and white striped trousers with vertical colored lines; the figure holds a brown object near the face with one hand while the other rests on the hip, and wears dark shoes; the base and parts of the clothing show small accents of gold, and there are touches of green and yellow on the base; the background is a uniform gray.
