Amphora-type vase, Manises ceramic center; ca. 1400- Maker/ workshop unknown. Two-handled vase with spherical body on a spool base, tall pot-like spout and neck. Painted in red mirror paint with ornamental motifs in a Middle Eastern style; on both sides of the body a bird motif among leaves and stylized plant branches. Neck and spout decorated with a double trail with a volute ornament. Dark cream glaze; glazed underside. 17th century, Spain, Valencia, Manises. Vessel. Height 26.5 cm; width 13.0 cm., An earthenware jug with a rounded body, a narrow neck that flares at the rim, a footed base, and two curved handles; the surface shows decorative painted motifs in a reddish-brown color against a cream background, with swirling and curved patterns covering the neck, shoulder, and body, and bands of ornamentation around the rim and foot; the jug has a glossy finish with some worn areas and small chips, and the visible colors are reddish-brown, cream, and small patches of darker brown.
