Bed finial, attributed to Jan Chryzostom Redler 1704–1779 with Jakub Fontana 1710–1773 as designer; baroque, ca. 1757–1760. Pediment-shaped hospital bed finial with volutes on the sides and a central corbel supporting the bust of a monk; fastened with two pins to the front section of the cornice crowning the canopy. Figure dressed in a habit, head turned to the left, with tonsure and beard. Outline of the finial and corbel highlighted with a black ribbon stucco inlay. On the corbel is an oval hole that once held a wooden rotating medallion with inlaid letters on obverse and reverse now missing; above it an inlaid number No. i3. Runners decorated with garlands of ribbons, flowers, and acanthus leaves; volutes bear small brackets with turned, cup-shaped pinnacles. Fragment of furniture; height 69.5 cm, width 91 cm, depth 24 cm., A carved bust of a bearded figure with a hooded garment, shown against a neutral background; the sculpture has a dark brown to black surface with lighter brown worn areas revealing wood tones; the figure's facial features include a downward gaze and a textured beard, and the garment shows carved folds and a rough patina; a small dark mounting clamp is visible at the base; the background and surface beneath the bust are shades of gray.
