Bookstand, origin unknown, Hebrew, Jerusalem Israel/Palestine; rectangular bookstand with two foldable sides, decorated with three recessed Jerusalem Crosses. Under the central cross is an ink inscription in Hebrew: ??????? Yerushalayim. Main part has profiled edges and can widen by shifting the central part embedded in a groove to the right. Movable sides have a heart-shaped outline; when unfolded on brass hinges they sit almost vertically with a slight inclination, and are decorated with crosses on the outer surface. 19th/20th century; hardware; height 12.6 cm, width 37.3 cm, depth 2.9 cm., A low wooden object with a long flat base and two upright curved end pieces, both end pieces showing carved patterns on their inner faces; the wood displays brown and darker brown grain variations with polished highlights, and there is a brass hinge visible near one end; the background is a uniform light gray.
