Bookstand, origin Jerusalem Israel/Palestine, 19th–20th century. Rectangular wooden bookstand with two foldable sides, decorated with three recessed Jerusalem crosses; under the central cross an ink Hebrew inscription ??????? Yerushalayim. Main part has profiled edges and a central part that can be widened by sliding into a groove. Movable sides have a heart-shaped outline, unfold on brass hinges to an almost vertical position with slight inclination, and are decorated with crosses on the outer surface. Materials: wood and brass hardware. Dimensions: height 12.6 cm, width 37.3 cm, depth 2.9 cm., A wooden object with a long flat base and two upright end pieces, shown against a solid gray background. The base has a carved decorative motif in its center and a raised molded edge; the wood shows warm brown and honey tones with visible grain and a polished finish. One end piece has carved ornamental designs on its visible face and a contoured profile; the other end piece has a smooth contoured profile and is attached to the base with a metal hinge that has a brass-like color. The wood shows variations of darker brown streaks and lighter brown highlights, and the surface has small reflective spots from the finish.
