Vase from the swan service, Koenigliche Porzellain Fabrique, Meissen 1737–1741. Authors: Eberlein, Johann Friedrich 1695–1749; Kaendler, Johann Joachim 1706–1775. Oval vase on four applied legs formed as a spit with a plastic mask of a bearded man or a volute — a plastic dolphin with raised body and tail two, supporting the vase. Two handles at the short ends in the form of fully modeled naked children — tritons with double decoratively crossed fish tails. Belly is knopbed and modeled with a shell motif in the lower part and a wave band in the upper part, with applied plastic flowers, polychrome-painted shells and seafood, and two oval shields in rocaille-shell cartouches bearing a marital coat of arms supported by heraldic lions with jewels. Central underside has a convex gilded shell oval. No cover. Meissen, Saxony. Vessel; height 24.0 cm, width 34.0 cm., A decorative porcelain centerpiece sits on a scalloped shallow dish, both predominantly white with gilt edging and accents. The central bowl has a gold-rimmed interior and is adorned with applied floral and shell-like white ornamentation with touches of red, brown, and grey. Two small childlike figures cling to opposite sides of the bowl, painted with brown hair and pale skin tones. The bowl rests on ornate supports that include stylized fish forms with red and brown highlights and a central bearded face rendered in pale tones with gilt details. The scalloped base shows faint painted floral spots in muted red and brown and has a ribbed inner surface with gilded trim.
