Amphora vase with a retinue of Greek gods; early 19th century, Berlin, Germany. Ovoid body with a separated recess and slightly upturned neck; on a spool foot and square plinth. Black ground with overglaze-painted red-figure retinue: Zeus on a throne surrounded by the Muses, Neptune Poseidon with Amphitrite, and Athena . Traces of gilded and engraved antique-looking floral ornament under the neck, on the lower body, and on the neck under the rim. Around the gilded neck and foot, painted in sepia and brick brown, are five compositions featuring an eagle, insignia of power, a shield, a sword, a helmet, a dove, a floral wreath, and Neptune's attributes. A trail of leaves surrounds the foot. Foot mounted with a belly on a spindle., A tall ornamental vase with a flared rim and pedestal base, primarily showing deep black, bright gold, and vivid red-orange colors; the upper neck and rim area are gilded with gold and include decorative gold patterns and a painted gold bird; the main body is black with red-orange figurative scenes depicting robed human figures and winged creatures seated and standing among stylized clouds, with gold ornamental bands above and below the scene; the pedestal and foot are gilded gold with leaf-like gold motifs and rest on a square gold base, all set against a plain pale gray background.
