Armchair, Rococo style; floral decoration; cabriole legs; silk fabrics 18th-century patterned floral silk; upholstered seat, backrest, armrests; carved, white-lacquered and gilded. Cabriole legs arched into the frame, wave-like cutout at the bottom; trapezoidal seat with slightly bulging front frame. Disc-shaped backrest, nearly square, topped with an arch; slightly concave side rails, straight in line with sitter's back, slightly tilted with a clearance. Armrests with volute at front end on recessed, slightly S-shaped supports. Edges of all frame elements highlighted with a gilded half-cylinder. Central part of front frame and upper front legs with carved floral decorations; ends of armrests and feet with gilded acanthus leaves. Reupholstered in cream-colored silk satin-weave ground, accented with colored silk and brocaded twill weave with silver thread; decorated with wreaths and alternating vertical garlands, with small floral sprigs in the background. 3rd quarter of the 18th century, France. Seating piece furniture. Height 89 cm; width 63 cm; depth 67 cm., The image shows the back of an upholstered chair with a visible wooden frame and fabric backing. The frame has areas of worn gold and brown finishes with patches of white paint, and carved decorative elements at the top and sides. The fabric on the back is a muted gray with subtle variations in tone. The chair legs, visible at the bottom, are painted white with some worn spots revealing brown underneath. The background is a smooth, light gray surface and backdrop.
