Double-sided gingerbread form. Obverse: female figure in a hat and a long patterned dress; reverse: baby in swaddling clothes richly decorated with geometric and plant ornament. Rectangular form, decorated with plant ornaments and folk motifs; associated with customs and decorative folk art. 18th–19th century, Province of Silesia 1742–1918. Height 23.5 cm, width 9.5 cm, depth 2.6 cm., A vertically oriented rectangular wooden panel in brown tones features a carved relief of a wrapped figure filling most of the panel; the figure has a rounded head with simple carved facial features and a hood or bonnet, a torso decorated with a pattern of leaf-like ovals and curved lines, and a tied bundle or bow near the lower portion above a rounded base with floral carving. The wood shows variations of warm brown, tan, and darker brown grain patterns, along with a few small dark holes and surface marks scattered across the panel, and the background around the panel appears a cool gray.
