Double-sided gingerbread mould with the image of a rider on both sides, woodcarver or gingerbread maker; gingerbread mould, figurative scenes, riders, male figures, horse iconography, plant motifs, folk-style decorations, applied art, decorative art; Silesia Province of Silesia, 1742–1918; rectangular double-sided mould: one side shows a rider-trumpeter in a tricorn hat in 17th–18th-century costume long caftan, breeches, long boots seated on a horse with decorative tack, both on a base decorated with plant and geometric ornament; reverse shows another rider on horseback probably a hussar wearing a high mirliton cap and a fur-lined jacket, with geometric and floral ornament at the bottom; on one edge the date 1797 is engraved with the letter S against an anchor mark of the woodcarver or owner of the mould; dated 1797; mold; height 19 cm, width 15 cm, depth 5.5 cm., A rectangular wooden block with a carved relief of a mounted figure; the carving shows a person seated on a horse with detailed mane and tail, the rider wearing a pointed headpiece and layered garments with textured patterns, and the horse standing on a decorative base with scroll-like motifs. The wood surface shows a range of brown tones with darker brown in the carved areas, lighter brown wear on the flat surfaces, and small areas of grayish discoloration; the background around the block is a pale gray.
