Double-sided gingerbread form. Obverse: figure of an angel with the alphabet. Reverse: various floral ornaments. Double-sided rectangular form; on one side a male figure probably an angel standing, in a costume richly decorated with plant ornament, girded with two sashes, holding a decorative board inscribed with the alphabet; above the figure's head a halo; in the background a feather and flame motif angel wings?. Other side: rectangular field filled with floral and plant decoration, among which the head of a baby. At the top a signature: initials G and R mark of the woodcarver or gingerbread maker/owner of the workshop. 18th–19th century, Province of Silesia 1742–1918. Material: gingerbread form wood. Height 32.3 cm; width 13 cm; depth 2 cm. Genres/themes: figurative scenes, plant motifs, babies, male figures, alphabet, floral motifs, historical costumes, decorative and applied folk art, angel iconography., A rectangular wooden block with a carved recessed design rests on a smooth light gray surface; the block shows a natural brown wood color with darker brown carved areas forming a patterned motif including a radial, petal-like element at one end and a series of geometric and floral patterns along its length; the block's edges and corners show wear and slightly darker brown marks, and the background and surface are shades of gray.
