Double-sided gingerbread mold. Obverse: baby in swaddling clothes richly decorated with various geometric motifs; Reverse: stylized elongated fish covered with scales. Gingerbread mold, applied/decorative folk-style art; used for gingerbread, folk customs; geometric ornaments, children motifs. 18th–19th century, Province of Silesia 1742–1918. Material: mold. Dimensions: height 16.7 cm; width 7.8 cm; depth 3.4 cm., A rectangular wooden board in light brown with a carved relief of a wrapped figure occupies the center; the carved figure shows a rounded head with a halo-like ring and a simple facial expression, a neck tied with a bow, and a body wrapped in layers of patterned bands and scalloped edges ending in a tied section and a rounded foot-like form; the wood surface shows grain, small dark holes, and a few darker brown marks, against a plain gray background.
