Double-sided gingerbread mould. Obverse: genre scene; reverse: three motifs. Double-sided rectangular mould; one side depicts a man standing by a washtub washing, behind him a woman holding a baby in swaddling clothes; below a plaque with an inscription in German; made of Schwabach. Second side: at bottom left, a rider in a hat on a horse; above him a rectangular recess containing a second rectangle with the letters I and B carved, surrounded by geometric and plant ornaments; on the right, another rectangular recess, tripartite, each segment with a vertical strip of floral decoration; above it carved letters initials A and H. Genre scenes, gingerbread moulds, babies, children, riders, floral motifs, marriages, plant motifs, decorative and applied art, gingerbread, social satire, rider on a horse iconography. 18th–19th century. Province of Silesia 1742–1918. Form. Height 24.7 cm; width 16.8 cm; depth 4.2 cm., A rectangular wooden block rests on a smooth surface, showing a carved recessed design on its top that includes raised and indented shapes; the block has worn edges and chips, a few small round marks on its sides, and an irregular concave area along one long edge. The visible colors are brown tones in the wood ranging from light to dark brown, with gray and muted bluish-gray in the background surface and surrounding area.
