Double-sided gingerbread mould. Obverse: genre scene; reverse: three depictions. Double-sided rectangular mould made of Schwabach. One side shows a genre scene: a man standing by a washtub washing, a woman behind him holding a baby in swaddling clothes; below a plaque with an inscription in German. Second side: three motifs β bottom left a rider in a hat on a horse; above him a rectangular recess containing a second rectangle carved with the letters I and B, surrounded by geometric and plant ornaments; on the right a tripartite rectangular recess, each segment with a vertical strip of floral decoration; above it carved initials A and H. 18thβ19th century, Province of Silesia 1742β1918. Materials and form: applied decorative art, gingerbread mould. Height 24.7 cm, width 16.8 cm, depth 4.2 cm. Subjects/themes: genre scenes, babies/children, riders, floral and plant motifs, marriages, social satire; rider on a horse iconography., A rectangular wooden panel with a worn brown surface showing carved decorative elements and signs of age, including rough patches and small holes; the left side features a recessed rectangular panel with carved leafy borders and a relief scene below depicting a figure wearing a broad hat riding a horse amid stylized foliage, all carved in low relief; the right side shows three vertical columns of repeated floral rosette motifs carved in relief, with some areas of deeper damage and irregular edges; the top edge has a small carved form and faint incised marks, and the wood displays a range of brown tones with darker brown shadows in the carved recesses and lighter brown highlights on worn surfaces.
