Double-sided gingerbread mould. Obverse: genre scene; reverse: three depictions. Genre scenes, gingerbread mould, babies, children, riders, floral motifs, marriages, plant motifs, decorative and applied art, gingerbread, social satire, rider on a horse iconography. Region: Silesia Prussia; 1742β1918. Description: Double-sided rectangular mould; on one side a genre scene depicting a man standing by a washtub and engaged in washing, behind him a woman holding a baby in swaddling clothes; below a plaque with an inscription in German; made in Schwabach. Second side: three different motifs β at the bottom left, a rider in a hat on a horse; above him a rectangular recess containing a second rectangle with the letters I and B carved, surrounded by geometric and plant ornaments; on the right, another rectangular recess, tripartite, each segment with a vertical strip of floral decoration; above it carved initials A and H. Date: 18thβ19th century. Form dimensions: height 24.7 cm, width 16.8 cm, depth 4.2 cm., A carved wooden panel showing a relief of two standing figures beside a table with a large bowl and a few vessels; the panel is brown with darker carved recesses and lighter worn surfaces, with areas of small holes and surface damage; the figures wear detailed carved clothing and head coverings with carved patterns and textures, and there is a carved decorative motif at their feet; the background is the natural wood color with subtle grain and some scratches and worn edges.
