Wooden tankard, carved, probably a peg tankard, maker, religious scenes, Gospel scenes, Resurrection of Christ iconography; inscriptions; vessels; Passion Bible; New Testament; human figures; figurative motifs; ; decorative art. Wooden pear-shaped tankard, so-called peg tankard, round, richly decorated with bas-reliefs depicting Passion scenes, with a Resurrection scene on the lid. The lid rim and handle are decorated with plant motifs and masks, and studded with ivory pins. In the center is a row of vertically driven metal pegs placed at regular intervals the top two are missing. 17th century, Scandinavia; vessel. Height 23.5 cm, width 20.5 cm., A carved cylindrical container with a lid sits against a light gray background, the container rendered in rich brown tones with darker and lighter brown variations; the lid is topped by sculpted protrusions and a ring of small pale bead-like elements, and the body is covered in detailed low-relief carved figures and decorative motifs, casting a subtle shadow to the left on the surface below.
