Right side of the cover painted in gouache with a pastoral scene in a park landscape in whitened colors; dominant colors blue sky/background and pink architectural elements and figures' clothing. Left side of the cover shows a landscape with mountains in the background. Scenes framed by a delicate gold-painted Rococo ornament. 2nd half of the 19th century; possibly 18th century; France, Europe. Pastoral scenes, landscapes, plant ornaments; fashion accessory fan. Height 27 cm., A hand fan with a painted leaf showing a pastoral scene in soft colors including pink, blue, green, brown, gold, and cream, featuring a group of people in period dress seated and standing among rocks and foliage, a seated figure in a pink dress at one side, a figure in blue and yellow clothing near a small animal, and a few other figures clustered near a central rocky outcrop, bordered with gold decorative motifs and pink panels at the lower corners, mounted on cream-colored slats with gold painted ornamentation.
