Fragment of a kontusz sash, Studio of Franciszek Maslowski belt manufacturer; 1781–1806. Polish sash fragment, sewn from two pieces; still with crosswise stripes. Edge with floral tendril. Colors: straw, brown, pink. Ornament - Center: transverse shelves alternating: shelf A with crescent and star motifs, shelf B with rosette motifs, shelf C with a floral tendril motif. - Vertical borders: trailing flowered branch. - Borders: serrated and ladder patterns. Colors - Front: background of borders and shelves with tendril is straw with brown ornament; background of shelves with crescents is brown with cream ornament; background of shelves with rosettes is straw and light faded pink. - Back: reverse of the original. Without fringes. Weave density: approx. 19/30 x2. This fragment is a remnant of Maslowski's signed belt, representing the type of belts from his workshop; the crescent motif in the shelves is characteristic of this manufacturer's products and not found on belts from other Persian workshops. Date/place: 1781–1806, Kraków. Type: clothing accessory. Dimensions: length 89.5 cm, width 15 cm., A long narrow textile strip hangs vertically against a pale gray background, showing a patterned design with alternating horizontal bands and a vertical floral border along one edge; the textile appears in shades of gold and muted yellow with some darker gold or brownish detailing, and there are a few small frayed threads at the top and bottom edges.
