Kontusz belt, PC Salzhüber Manufactory Gdansk; belt manufacturer; ca. 1775–1800. Single-part heads with the pattern of two asymmetrically arranged floral branches and a third smaller branch from the bottom. Still with transverse stripes: wide, smooth, bisected by a pattern of crosses, and stripes with plant twigs. Trim with plant-floral twigs. Stitched gold fringe. Colors: gold, navy blue, cream. Before 1793; Gdansk place of origin?. Clothing accessory. Length 306.5 cm; width 26.5 cm., Two long narrow fabric panels hang side by side against a pale background. The left panel shows alternating horizontal bands of muted blue and reddish-brown with a decorative pale border along its edges and a rectangular section near the bottom featuring a worn floral or foliage motif in reddish and pale tones; its lower edge finishes with a fringe of golden threads. The right panel shows alternating horizontal bands of deep blue and pale cream with a similarly patterned pale border and a rectangular lower section containing a more detailed floral or foliage motif in blue and pale tones; its lower edge also finishes with a fringe of golden threads. The fabrics display areas of wear and small darker spots, and the overall palette includes blue, reddish-brown, pale cream, gold, and touches of darker brown.
