Flat women's slippers of white satin. Flat-cut toe, symmetrical soles of thin leather. The endpaper and back of the lining are made of white glacé leather, while the front is made of white canvas. On the endpaper there is an octagonal, elongated company label printed in green with the inscription: Józef Marczewski / in Warsaw / at Dluga Street / No. 543. Maker: Józef Marczewski shoemaker's workshop, ca. 1830–ca. 1840. Date: 1836. Place of origin: Warsaw. Materials: satin, leather, canvas. Function: women's slippers/footwear. Dimensions: height 5.2 cm, length 23.5 cm., A worn, flattened ballet shoe lies on a plain light-gray background; the shoe appears made of pale, cream-colored satin with visible creases, fraying edges, and areas of darker discoloration in beige and brown tones, showing a frayed inner lining of off-white fabric and a few darker smudges and stains on its exterior.
