Women’s slippers by Johann Dyck, shoemaker’s workshop, Vilnius, ca. 1800–ca. 1850. Flat women’s slippers made of white full-grain leather with flat-cut toes, decorated with a rosette of white grosgrain ribbon one rosette preserved. Symmetrical leather soles. White canvas lining and endpaper. A printed company label is glued onto the endpaper of one slipper: “Johann / Dyck / …auf der / Schloss-strase / nr … in / VILNIUS.” 1st half of the 19th century. Footwear, clothing; height 6 cm, length 24 cm., A pair of slip-on shoes sitting side by side on a plain background, appearing worn and made of a pale fabric with visible creases and small stains; the left shoe has a decorative rosette on its top, while the interiors show frayed edges and darker discoloration; colors visible include off-white, beige, brown, and gray in the background.
