Kontusz belt, Royal Silk Manufactory in Grodno; silk and metal-threaded belt, 1768–1780. Semi-solid, double-sided kontusz belt. In the bipartite heads are freely, asymmetrically arranged three floral bouquets surrounded by a garland of flowers. Center comprises transverse panels alternating smooth stripes and panels with sparsely spaced small flower sprigs. Border imitates galloon with diagonal stripe ornament. No fringes. Ornament: heads — two flower bouquets arranged asymmetrically and surrounded by a garland; at the lower edge, center, a flower bush growing from a leaf. Center — transverse shelves alternating smooth and patterned with small flower sprigs. Borders — horizontal and vertical diagonal quadrangles and stripes. Colors: crimson, gold, olive. Right side: background of heads and center crimson and pink, gold ornament; gold borders and trim. Left side: light green background of heads and center, gold ornament; gold borders and trim. Weave density: approx. 64/32 on the right side and 16/32 on the left. Place of origin: Grodno Grand Duchy of Lithuania/Poland. Function: clothing accessory for national costume. Dimensions: length 318 cm, width 28.3 cm., The image shows two long rectangular textile panels side by side against a pale background. The left panel is a bright lime green with horizontal bands and a decorative rectangular block at the bottom featuring floral motifs, all bordered by a metallic gold trim. The right panel is a soft peach color with similar horizontal banding and a matching decorative bottom block with floral designs, also edged with a metallic gold border. Both panels display metallic embroidery details and a subtle sheen on the fabric, with colors including green, peach, gold, and pale background tones.
