Half of a dalmatic, preserved half made of red, patterned large-scale velvet with pomegranate and thistle flower motifs brocaded with metal thread. Two panels with figures of saints are sewn onto the fabric, three in each stripe. Figures of saints with attributes placed in semicircular arcades: on the right panel — St. John the Evangelist with a chalice, St. John the Almsgiver with a staff and a book, a deacon with a book; on the left panel — St. John the Baptist, a very damaged saint with a halberd, and a saint with a spear possibly St. Maurice. Embroidery in metal threads Cypriot gold and multicolored silk; stitches include flat laid on a thread base, banner, shaded gold Burgundy, Cologne, cord, and split stitches. The saint figures are executed on a separate ground and applied; faces and hands are made of applied silk satin. Metal threads held with silk yarn, two or three threads each per E. Soszko. c. 1500; Italy fabric. Liturgical vestment; height 89 cm, width 95 cm., A flat garment laid out on a pale background, shaped with a wide rectangular body and straight short sleeves, showing a plain woven front panel in beige with visible vertical and horizontal weave texture and subtle creases; the garment edges reveal a narrow border in deep pink, and there are a few small metal rings along the top edge.
